Compare pizza ovens

Size, fuel, weight, heat and price, side by side. Two families: portable ovens that store away and travel, and backyard ovens that settle in for good. Not sure where to start? Our buying guide asks you the right questions.

Gozney, Ooni, Cozze

Portable ovens

The ones people compare most before buying their first oven.

Dome, Alfa, Fontana

Backyard ovens

Ovens that settle in for good. Several pizzas at once, bread, roasts.

How to choose

  • FuelPropane is simple and steady. Wood is the ritual: the flame, the smell. It only changes the flavour in slow cooking. Hybrid ovens let you pick depending on the night.
  • Pizza size12 inches to start or travel, 14 to 16 inches to host, several pizzas at once for a big table.
  • WeightAround 15 kg, the oven stores away and travels. Past 25 kg, it stays in the backyard, on a table or a stand.
  • PreheatIt's the time the stone needs to be ready. Plan for it in your evening, and a little longer in winter.

Frequently asked questions

Which pizza oven should I start with?

A 12 to 14 inch propane oven, like the Gozney Arc Lite or the Ooni Koda 2. Easy to light, quick to heat, and enough room to learn. The Cozze 13 turns the stone for you, which helps a lot at the start.

Gozney or Ooni?

Both make excellent ovens, and we carry both brands. Gozney focuses on insulation and finish, with heavier ovens that hold their heat. Ooni offers more sizes and fuels, often at a gentler price. We compare them in detail in Arc XL or Koda 16.

Can I use a pizza oven in a Quebec winter?

Yes. Plan for a longer preheat when it's cold or windy, and keep the oven dry or under a cover between cooks. It's all in pizza outside in winter.

Is a backyard oven worth it?

If you host often or want to cook more than pizza, yes. A Dome, an Alfa or a Fontana holds its heat for a long time and bakes several pizzas at once, then bread and roasts. Write to us and we'll help you choose.
