Frequently asked questions
What's the best pizza oven for beginners?
For most people, a 16-inch propane oven like the Gozney Arc XL. Tighter budget? The Ooni Koda 16 is still a good choice. Want something smaller? The Gozney Arc Lite. Our buying guide gets you there in ten minutes, and the comparison chart lines the models up side by side.
How much does a good pizza oven cost?
Plan on $550 to $1,200 for a great portable oven, and $2,500 and up for a built-in oven that lasts ten years. Add $150 to $300 for accessories.
Can I use a pizza oven in a Quebec winter?
Yes. Shield the flame from the wind and give it about twice the preheat time. Everything we know is in our winter pizza article.
A pizza oven or a stone on the BBQ?
A stone on the BBQ is a good start, but a BBQ rarely gets past 350 °C (660 °F). A pizza oven reaches around 500 °C (950 °F) and bakes a Neapolitan pizza in 60 to 90 seconds, with a crust that puffs up and gets its char spots. That heat, from the stone and the dome at the same time, is what makes the difference. Want to make the most of your BBQ or home oven anyway? Read our guide.
Can you use a pizza oven indoors?
Only an electric oven designed for it, like the Ooni Volt 2. Propane, natural gas and wood ovens are for outdoor use only, in open air.
