Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes 28 oz (Organic) – Bianco DiNapoli

$8.25
Description

What roasting changes: before canning, these organic tomatoes go over a flame. The skin caramelises lightly and a smoky note stays in the flavour that no raw tomato will give you.

They are then coarsely chopped and packed in their own juice, which keeps the pieces intact. The result is more rustic than a smooth sauce. You feel the tomato, it has some chew.

This is the interesting choice when the pizza is simple. On a margherita that extra depth does a lot of work on its own.

Grown organically in California, no cooking required. A 28 oz can covers 5 to 7 twelve inch pizzas.

Specifications
  • 28 oz format
  • Organic diced tomatoes from Californiaflame-roasted
  • Makes approximately 5 to 7 12" pizzas
How we use it

Here is a recipe for your Bianco DiNapoli diced tomatoes:

  1. Drain lightly, then combine olive oil, salt, fresh basil, and diced tomatoes in a bowl (you can also add, to taste, a touch of garlic).
  2. Mix together, and let it rest for 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before spreading it on your dough.
  3. Enjoy!

Go ahead, create your own homemade pizza sauces, they're so good! If you prefer whole tomatoes, it's this way.

FAQ

How are they different from crushed?

Diced hold their texture and give a sauce with pieces in it. Crushed are broken down and give a smooth sauce that spreads thin more easily.

Is the smoke strong?

Present without dominating. You notice it most on a lightly dressed pizza. Under strong toppings it moves to the background.

Should I drain them?

Lightly, yes. They are packed in their juice, and too much liquid on the dough leaves the centre soft.
