Robusto starts from the same base as Bianco DiNapoli's organic pizza sauce, with more substance and more seasoning.
Onion, oregano and a touch of red chili go in with the California tomatoes. The texture is thicker and more broken, which lets it hold up under generous toppings instead of disappearing.
This is the sauce for pizzas with things on them: pepperoni, Italian sausage, roasted vegetables. Where a mild sauce gets swallowed, Robusto holds its ground.
It also works in deep dish, where the sauce has to survive a much longer bake, and in baked pasta. The 15 oz jar covers 3 to 4 twelve inch pizzas.
